Bel Colle was established in 1976 by brothers Franco and Carlo Pontiglione and by Giuseppe Priola. Located in the famous Barolo region of Piemonte, Verduno is a short distance south of the Tanaro river; to the north lies the Roero districe, famous for the white grape Arneis. Lovers as they are of their own land, they did not hesitate in relaunching and making the most of the Langa's most typical product, thanks also to mother nature's generosity.

The area surrounding Verduno is also known for a unique wine called Pelaverga made with the grapes of the same name. The vine was transplanted to Verduno from the town of Salizzo in the second half of the 1700's by Father Sebastiano Valfre. Bel Colle is one of the few producers of this rare wine, characterized by it's rich, peppery flavor, whose name loosely translates to "little aphrodisiac".
