Vintage: 2010
Region: Lombardia
Sub-Region: Oltrepo Pavese DOC
Varietal: Bonarda (100%)

In the Oltrepo Pavese of Lombardia there is a clay-like and slightly calcareous soil where the Bonarda (Croatina) grape has thrived for centuries. Tenuta Mazzolino produces this wine to “highlight its strong link with the most important native grape variety in the Oltrepò Pavese area.”
Made exclusively from Bonarda, the grapes are picked when they are fully ripe, which follows through to the ripe berry and strong tannic character of the wine. The color is ruby red with brilliant violet hues. The nose is fine, straightforward, elegant with hints of red fruit, blackberry and ripe cherry. The palette has good tannins typical of the grape which gives structure and complexity, leaving a good aftertaste of almonds. Drink this fantastic Bonarda with red meats, strong cheeses or other hearty dishes.
