A young winery
with strong family values, Lelusi, has grown quickly and become a favorite for
Basilicata wines. Situated on the slopes of Vulture, an inactive volcano, the
soil composition is a mixture of volcanic cinder that is unique to the area.
What separates this Aglianico from others is
the creative winemaking process, this wine has gone through an extended
maceration period on the must and undergone malolactic fermentation, then transferred into lightly toasted
French oak barriques for another
14-16 months before final bottling. These steps and careful measurements allow
the wine to develop a powerful bouquet and a deep ruby red color with a rich
full-bodied structure. This wine enjoys company and is not for drinking alone,
pair it with lamb, game and strong cheeses.
