For five generations and nearly one hundred years the Zannoni family has worked the land at La Fortuna. The husband and wife team of Angiolino and Quirina Zannoni started working the farm armed
with courage and determination and a true entrepreneurial spirit. In 1950, they handed over the management of the farm to their son Gino and his wife, Iva. It was their idea to transform the farm into an independent operation in 1965, the year they purchased the farmstead. It was here that their son Gioberto was born, and in turn where his children were born. A true family empire, today Gioberto has taken the reins at the winery's helm. With the recent purchase of the land in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, the
company's present property (33 hectares) is divided into 11 hectares of
specialized vineyard, 2 hectares of olive groves and 20 of land for
sowing. The cellar complex has been completely renovated; allowing the wine-making
premises to be highly innovative, with thermoregulated steel tanks, and a stable, temperature controlled maturing cellar, which contains 30-50 hectolitre oak casks. The average production is 30,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino
D.O.C.G., 20,000 of Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C., 15,000 of Sant'Antimo
Rosso and 15,000 of Fortunello I.G.T.. For more information about La Fortuna, visit their website here.
