For four generations, Filippo Grasso has produced wines in the Etna DOC.  Their vineyards are planted on volcanic soil called ripiddu, which basically means "little rocks".  With their understanding of the unique character of these vineyards, the team at Filippo Grasso are passionate about creating wines that express the distinctive qualities of the rippidu.  To do this, they do not use any barrels or wood when crafting the wine.  The result is high quality wines that are more drinkable, more fruit forward, and more flavorful than any other Etna we know on the market.

Capu Chiurma di Ripiddu is produced from the oldest vines in the vineyard.  It has a ruby red color and a persistent  aroma, typical to the Nerello variety.   This wine is clean and medium in body, with very delicate note of tannin.  If you closed your eyes, you would think you were drinking a northern Italian elegant red wine.

You can serve this wine with roasted meat, aged cheeses and spicy dishes.
