Description

Teroldego is a deeply colored red-wine grape grown in the Trentino wine region of northern Italy. There is just one DOC for varietal Teroldego wines in its native Italy, This variety is hardly cultivated anywhere else in the world. Teroldegos home is the area just north of Trento, on the flat land between the mountains called Piana Rotaliana. This variety produces intense deeply pigmented red wines with an intensely fruity characteristic, a style that has become something of an icon for Trentinos wine industry.
Teroldego grapes are handpicked the first week of October and fermented into open wooden vats with ambient yeasts. Maceration on the skins last for 10 days. 60% of the wine matures in Slavonia oak casks, 40% aged in new French oak tonneaux. After natural decanting in stainless steel tanks, is bottled unfiltered and the result is the great Vigilius wine !

The De Vescovi-Ulzbach Teroldegos combine organoleptic features that are quite unique in general , specially Vigilius with rich inky purple colour , lively acidity , zesty/spicy bouquet reminiscent of crushed black currants intermixed with herbal nuances and stony minerality.
This Fantastic robust wine can pairs well with red meats, roasts, and hearty cheese pastas.

Vigilius 2012 was awarded Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso.
