Barbera
is a red grape variety that, as of 2000, was the third most-planted red grape
variety in Italy.
The color is a deep red with violet hue. The nose is expressive
with black fruit and a subtle touch of vanilla. On the palate,
this full-bodied
wine shows spices such as cinnamon and curry along with fresh blackberry, dark
cherry,
and tobacco, with a balanced freshness. This
Barbera
is long, fleshy, concentrated and pleasant on the finish.
Its
supple
tannins
and high levels of acidity make it a very versatile wine,
which pairs amazingly with most foods,
particularly
with pizza,
lighter
meats,
soft
Cheeses
and salumi.
