In 2012, Decanter Magazine published an article on the most notable Italian winemaking consultants who have been flying under the radar. As a feature in the article, Paolo Vagaggini was praised for his creation of “an impressive number of some of the best hand-crafted Brunellos”. He was also noted for his mastery of Sangiovese and Sangiovese-based wine. Paolo Vagaggini and his wife, Bernadetta, established Amantis winery relatively recently and are quickly being noticed as a force with which to be reckoned in the Montecucco region of Tuscany. The entire line of Amantis wines are some of the best values in Italian wine right now. For more information about Amantis, visit their website here.

"In Montalcino, Vagaggini knows Sangiovese like no one else" - Maria Flora Fuligni

Producer of some of Tuscany's most notorious Brunellos, Paolo Vagaggini prides himself on his natural approach to winemaking. "I try to bring out the maximum potential of the terroir, the grape, the estate's winemaking philosophy and the distinct character of the owner," says Vagaggini.  Lucky for us because he is owner of Amantis.  A professionally crafted wine for a fraction of the price of  his more well known wines.

The Sangiovese is produced from high density vineyards refreshed by the pure air of the mountain sacred to the Etruscan civilization.  Powerful yet elegant, modern yet typical, this wine praise no one and kneel to no one.  Dedicated to everyone who loves Sangiovese.

"A full and rich red from Montecucco, with a full body, raspberry and plum aromas and flavors. Silky and pleasing. Drink now." Wine Spectator, 89 Points

""The 2006 Montecucco Sangiovese explodes from the glass with a multitude of dark cherries, sweet herbs and spices. This is a rich, powerful wine loaded with personality and character. In fact, it may very well be the most ambitious wine being made in the Montecucco appellation today. Additional bottle age should allow the full range of aromas and flavors to emerge; even if the wine is pretty delicious at this stage. The estate’s Montecucco Sangiovese is 90% Sangiovese with a small percentage of Colorino and Canaiolo. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016." Wine Advocate, 90 Points
