When young, most Barbera wines have a bright-red cherry character,
distinguished from Nebbiolo (which often overshadows Barbera) by softer
tannins and a certain roundness. When matured in barrel and allowed to age in
bottle for a few years, this turns to a denser, sour-cherry note.
Aged for 8 - 9 months in steel tank, this Barbera is a ruby red color, with very intense aromas of red fruits like cherry and blackberry. Medium bodied, velvety and high acidity, which is typical of the grape. This wine can be paired with sausage or spicy foods.
