The San Giuseppe homestead, an old stone farmhouse in the Fattoria Mantellassi estate, gives its name to this Morellino di Scansano D.O.C.G. selection, a blend of 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Ciliegiolo grown in calcareous volcanic tufaceous soil. In January, the year's best lots of Morellino are selected and aged in small French oak barrels for about six months. After 6 months of bottle aging, this bold and structured wine boasts excellent organoleptic qualities: a superior smooth, refined, and balanced vinous bouquet with aromas of honey, followed by red berries, fresh flowers, and herbs. The palate is pleasant, fresh, smooth, and fruity, with the right acidity. Pair it with lamb, veal, poultry, pasta, salami, or cured meat.
