Cornalin is the name of two distinct red-wine
grape varieties from the Alps – one from the Aosta Valley (Cornalin D Aosta),
one from Valais (Cornalin du Valais). Cornalin du Valais is also known by the
names Rouge du Pays, Rouge du Valais and Landroter. It is a crossing of Petit
Rouge and Mayolet.
In the glass, it is a medium shade of purple-
ruby color. This dry wine has a great amount of vitality and
elegance on the nose it is rich with ripe aromas of, blackberries
and a hint of mountain herbs. The palate is rich with spicy earthy tones, blackberry,with soft tannins
and brisk acidity. Enjoy it with red meat stews, Fondue, Aged Cheeses, Smoked Salumi.
