Petite Arvine
is highly regarded as the finest grape variety of Valais,
a canton of its country of origin, Switzerland. Because
of its
quest for perfection in Valais, a few producers
attempted to
make Petite
Arvine
outside of Switzerland, mostly in France and Italy.
In these areas, this late-ripening, light-skinned grape
can develop a sophisticated balance of minerality
and acidity.
In the
glass,
it has a
brilliant yellow straw color. The nose is floral with aromas of jasmine, apple,
plum and citrus. The palate is layered with flavors of green apple, grapefruit
and wildflowers,
along
with bright acidity and a slightly saline minerality.
Enjoy it with
seafood
and fish dishes,
aged
cheese,
bitter
green salads
or
carpaccios.
