The 2016 Abtei Muri South Tyrolean Weiss, or Weissburgunder as it is structured, it is made of 100% the noble Pinot Bianco. The grapes for Pinot Bianco grown in the sun-blessed monastery vineyards in Appiano. A single-variety wine with a convincing pedigree and promising future. Aromas of ripe quinces and apple, acacia honey, butter, and caramel. Elegant taste with balanced acidic base, along with very salty and minerally, full and fresh, playful, invitingly drinkable, elegant, long finish; with the basic structure of a white Burgundy, the 2016 White is a new and successful interpretation of a great white wine cuvée. An ideal companion to roast veal tenderloin, roast rabbit, grilled octopus, lobster, and mature cheeses. The wines from this area exhibit a persistent saltiness to go along with the excellent acidic balance. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and then aged for 3 months in large wooden barrels . This wine can age easily for another 10 years or so.
