Terre
Del Principe Vigna Piancastelli takes its name from the vineyard of Manuela Piancastelli,
beneficiary of a castle in Campagnia facing Mount Taburno, in
Caserta. This thick, extracted wine is made from 70% Pallagrello and
30% Casavecchia, a
portion of which was over- ripened on the vine. 2013 is a spectacular vintage for Piancastelli,
which opens with opulent aromas of chocolate, exotic spice, dark fruit, and
cinnamon. Aged for
12 months in new French oak barrels and 18 months in bottle,
this sophisticated
wine has a
soft and enveloping palate, with very persistent and aromatic
spicy notes, and a long lasting finish.
Every vintage, the label of Piancastelli
is painted by a different artist. The 2013 label is created by Mojmir
U.Ježek,
which makes this fabulous wine even more interesting! Pair with light meat
dishes, or have it with substantial appetizers!
