Description

Ravera is Novello’s most famous cru, and makes the best Barolos of the zone. Ravera 2013 is the result of a very intense and rich vintage, which surely is able to offer wines of excellent evolution and growth over time. This elegant Barolo is particularly well-balanced, with a magnificent body and depth, noble tannins, and overall great drinkability. Alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous, done with indigenous yeasts and in contact with its skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. It ages in 500 liter barrels for the first 12 months, then is transferred to oak barrels of 50 hectoliters for 24 months, before being refined in the bottle for at least 6 months.
An intense garnet red with light orange reflections, the bouquet has nice perfumes of fresh fruit, wild berries, iris, rose, fruit infused spirits, vanilla, delicate spicy notes such as sweet baking spice, and a whiff of balsam. Notes of tobacco and coffee are barely mentioned, and will gain strength with the passage of time. Opulent with an intense full body, rich with round, austere tannins, the ripe palate offers wild cherry, fleshy raspberry, tobacco, toast, mocha, and cinnamon, alongside nervous acidity. In spite of the great structure, it has an amazing roundness, and a cocoa aftertaste that gives it a pleasant persistence. The heat of evident alcohol closes the finish but doesn't dominate. Pair it with red meat stew, roasted or grilled meat, aged cheese, pasta with meaty sauces, and game
