Located at the foot of Monte Rosa lies Castello di Castellengo, a stunning castle with a long history in winemaking, which dates back to the 17th century. The rich composition of the sandy and clay soils of vineyards gives its wines a unique mineral complexity and longevity. Made of 100% Nebbiolo, the grapes of this terrific wine are sourced from three separate vineyard sites in Montalciata, giving the wine a complex flavor. Aging 24 months in 1500 liter oak barrels, in bottle for 12 months. With great nose, full of charm, slowly reveals itself as only the great wines can do, a plot centered on the fineness of small red fruits that meet oriental spices, nutmeg, clove, reassuring the subtle minerality that brings to rocks bathed by the sea and warmed by the sun, as if to remember the origin of this great territory of Alto Piedmont. The taste commits to consistency, and extract, without forgetting the juiciness of the fruit and the great freshness, long and satisfying with interesting perspectives on aging the wine.
The color is an intense ruby red, and the bouquet is elegant and refined, with aromas of fig, plum, cassis, sweet spices, leather, and a light note of licorice. Medium-bodied, with harmonious tannins and good sapidity, this amazing expression of Nebbiolo.
