Castello di Castellengo is located at the foot of Monte Rosa in the Alpine chain, in northern Piemonte in the region of Biella. Centovigne is a modern winery with historic roots, started in 1999 yet the wines are produced as they were in the 17 century. The DOC of Coste della Sesia presents unique climatic characteristics, positively affected by the presence of the Monte Rosa behind the Po Valley laid out below.
The sandy/clay soils of Mottalciata give the wines a particular mineral complexity and a longevity. The grapes for the 2010 Rosso are grown in three different vineyards in Mottalciata: Drumma, Santa Maria and Alpina. Made of 70% Nebbiolo, 20% Croatina, 10% Uva Rara
The nose is ripe with fresh fruits dark berry fruits and a hint of Balasamic.
on the palate plum and cassis aromas are balance by soft ripe tannins and brisk acidity.
Perfect with medium aged Cheese, Salami and Pasta.
