For four generations, Filippo Grasso has produced wines in the Etna DOC.  Their vineyards are planted on volcanic soil called ripiddu, which basically means "little rocks".  With their understanding of the unique character of these vineyards, the team at Filippo Grasso are passionate about creating wines that express the distinctive qualities of the rippidu.  To do this, they do not use any barrels or wood when crafting the wine.  The result is high quality wines that are more drinkable, more fruit forward, and more flavorful than any other Etna we know on the market.

Rippidu is basically the first harvest of grapes, where the Capu Chiurma is the second harvest.  Because of this, the wine is lighter in body and very good quality and craftsmanship for the price.
