The alluvial soils of the Tirso Valley enrich the grapes of these ancient vineyards with enological characteristics of special value. Enhanced by no less than five years of maturing in centuries' old casks of chestnut and oak, the Vernaccia di Oristano acquires a golden yellow color with amber tints and an intense and characteristic perfume which has hints of almond blossom. It is a superb dessert wine, and an excellent aperitif, to be served chilled. It is, moreover, suited for serving with elaborate fish stews, tasty starters and the typical "bottarga di muggine" (dried mullet roe).
